 2. Timberstrand - Laminated strand lumber (LSL - 1.55E) is dimensional lumber that is compossed of laminated strands of lumber into beams, headers, and wall studs. Timberstrand products offer the right price point for many applications the right product for superior strength, straightness, and stability. Timberstrand LSL beams and headers (1.55 E) are ideal for window and door openings, girders, and flush beams. Timberstrand LSL studs provide a straight and strong stud in tall walls. For longer spans and openings LVL (1.9) and Parallam (2.0 E) beams and columns provide the perfect product. LVL Beams and Headers - Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL - 1.9E) is dimensional lumber that is composed of thin layers or veneers of wood glued together and sawn to make dimensional lumber in sizes ranging from 2x4's to 4x18's or larger by special order. This class of lumber is used as studs, headers, rim joists, beams, columns, and girders in floor framing and as rafters in roof framing. LVL can be manufactured in sizes to meet almost all structural needs. Because this is an engineered and manufactured product there is little or no dimensional difference or loading capacity between pieces. If LVL is stored and handled properly it will be straight and true without the crowns and bows found in large dimensional natural lumber. |
